Description
Teuscher Walpole is looking for a highly skilled and driven Tax Manager to join our team. Tax Managers act as a key technical advisor, providing guidance on resolving moderate to complex tax matters. You will work directly with training staff, seniors, partners, clients, external service providers, and tax authorities, ensuring high-quality service and effective problem-solving. The ability to supervise multiple engagements simultaneously, overseeing the review of income tax returns, tax planning projects, and conducting in-depth tax research. Managers have the opportunity to contribute to practice development by taking a leading role in marketing the firm and managing client accounts, building long-term relationships that can lead to potential advancement to partner for the right candidate.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervisor multiple tax engagements, including the review of income tax returns and tax planning.
  • Mentor and manage the tax department staff, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
  • Communicate directly with clients, partners, and taxing authorities, providing tax planning advice and resolving complex issues.
  • Stay current with tax regulations and ensure compliance while identifying areas for improvement in client tax strategies.
  • Participate in business development efforts to expand the firm’s practice.
Qualifications
  • CPA License Required.
  • 5+ years of recent tax experience in areas such as multi-state taxation, trust and estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, and international tax.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience training tax associates.
  • Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, ProSystem FX, and RIA Checkpoint, QuickBooks, and tax software (Ultra Tax experience is a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills, client-service orientated, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
